Abstract

Integrating sustainability into corporate strategy has become imperative in contemporary business environments, driven by increasing societal expectations and regulatory pressures. This journal article explores the challenges and opportunities associated with this integration through a comprehensive literature review.  The discussion begins by examining the evolving definitions and frameworks of sustainability in corporate strategy, highlighting the shift from mere compliance to proactive sustainability initiatives. Key challenges identified include the complexity of measuring sustainability impacts, balancing short-term financial goals with long-term sustainability objectives, and overcoming organizational inertia and resistance to change. Moreover, the article explores various strategies and best practices adopted by leading organizations to successfully integrate sustainability into their core business strategies. These include embedding sustainability into corporate governance structures, fostering stakeholder engagement, and leveraging technological advancements for sustainable innovation.  Ultimately, the synthesis of literature reveals that while the path to integrating sustainability is fraught with challenges, it presents significant opportunities for enhancing corporate reputation, fostering innovation, and ensuring long-term business resilience in a rapidly changing global landscape. This review contributes to understanding the strategic imperatives and practical implications for businesses aiming to navigate and excel in the era of sustainable development.
